Car Colston Hall Stud is owned by the Forman Hardy family. Their interest in horseracing started in 1994 and in 1995 Nicholas & Jane travelled to Keeneland and bought the stud’s foundation mare Wiener Wald. Wiener Wald excelled at stud and went on to become a Gr.1 producing mare.

“Their famed Wiener Wald family seems to produce a stakes winner every year”
Matt Coleman (Stroud Coleman Bloodstock)
The Wiener Wald family has risen under the management of Car Colston Hall Stud to become one of the most influential of our time.
The Woodman mare was bought to join the stud through Alex Scrope in 1995 and last year, a quarter of a century on, her family hit the admirable landmark of 25 black-type performers, among them four Group 1 winners. Wiener Wald’s own lengthy produce record was led by Racing Post Trophy winner Crowded House. However, via her successful daughter Argent Du Bois, she also features as the granddam of Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Brando and top American racemare Ticker Tape as well as the ancestress of champion two-year-old Reckless Abandon, bred by Car Colston Hall out of Sant Elena, and Group 2 winner War Decree, now at stud in New Zealand.
Another four daughters are black-type producers, including Car Colston Hall’s own Riotous Applause, dam of Listed scorer Invincible Warrior, and Forest Crown, dam of last year’s narrow Prix de Sandringham runner-up. Sagamore Farm’s Vienna Affair also bred American Grade 2 winner Daring Dance.Wiener Wald’s reach is already an international one, consisting of stakes horses in Europe, North America, Australasia and Japan, to make her the most successful female descendant of Storm Cat’s dam Terlingua. Similarly, her descendants are sought after all over the globe, meaning that her influence is only going to grow.

I always look forward to receiving yearlings from Car Colston Hall Stud. The horses are beautifully bred, well mannered and a joy to train.
